With Amazon’s new paid membership service (launched in Australia on 19 June, 2018), members receive a range of benefits that almost a quarter of Australians are excited about.
Some of the perks include free 2-day shipping on all orders, along with access to video streaming service Prime Video, e-book service Prime Reading and live video game streaming service Twitch Prime. Competing with Netflix, Stan and other ebook and game streaming services, Amazon Prime has a membership offering that is priced at a level consumers appear interested in.
New research from Pureprofile has uncovered that 21% of Australians are already, or planning to become, an Amazon Prime member – with 5% already members and 16% planning to become members in the near future. 56% are not planning to become members and 23% are not sure.
Amazon Prime membership is of more interest to males and younger Australians – 27% of males surveyed are planning to become, or are already a member, versus 15% female. Of the total number interested, 44% are aged 18-24 years and 38% aged 25-34 years.
