While starting as an American phenomenon, The Great Resignation has been making waves across continents as more and more employees look to job hop and make career moves now that they have adapted their lifestyles through the course of the pandemic.
Feeling out the ‘new normal’ has made workers more confident about seeking out new opportunities.
We asked 1755 people, taken from nationally representative samples from the United Kingdom, the United States, Australia and New Zealand about their current job satisfaction and how their priorities in employment have changed.
Here’s what we discovered:
Only about a quarter of Brits and Aussies are really satisfied in their current positions. Americans and Kiwis are slightly more satisfied: US (29%), NZ (28%), UK, (25%), AU (24%)
Over 40% of people in all four countries are currently looking or considering searching for a new job: NZ (47%), US (44%), UK, (41%), AU (41%)
About a third of Americans, Aussies and Kiwis have reassessed what they want out of a job since Covid, compared to about a quarter of Brits.
7 in 10 people in all four countries say that salary is the most important factor when considering a new job.
Flexibility in working hours is the second biggest factor for people in New Zealand (62%), UK (57%)and Australia (53%), and health care benefits for those in the US (57%).
Almost 10% of Americans and Aussies have quit their jobs to reduce stress.
