For the fifth consecutive year, we’ve partnered with IAB Australia to bring you the latest insights into commerce and retail marketing trends across Australia, and for the second year, New Zealand is included to provide a full trans-Tasman perspective.

The 2025 report explores how economic shifts, changing media habits, and evolving consumer priorities are transforming the way people discover, evaluate, and engage with brands. Today’s shoppers are carefully balancing value, quality, and trust, all while expecting convenience, authenticity, and transparency from the brands they choose.

Key trends identified include the growing influence of social media and creators on product discovery, a stronger preference for locally made and sustainable products, and an increasing focus on loyalty programs and data privacy. With budgets still under pressure, consumers are turning to rewards and personalised offers to help guide their decisions.

We surveyed 1,000 Australians and 800 New Zealanders aged 18 to 70 who have shopped online in the past 12 months to understand how evolving consumer behaviours and expectations are influencing shopping and commerce trends.
