- Strong interest, opportunity to convert: While just 8% currently own an EV, 53% of Irish consumers are open to owning one
- Practical benefits shape decision-making: Fuel cost savings are the top motivator (66%), outweighing environmental considerations
- Infrastructure concerns: Range anxiety (45%) and insufficient charging stations (43%) remain key barriers, highlighting the need for improved infrastructure
- Incentives alone are not enough: Despite high awareness, 39% say reduced incentives would make no difference to their purchase decision
- A measured route to purchase: 44% expect to purchase an EV within 2–5 years, indicating steady but gradual growth rather than immediate uptake
