Leveraging the power of women: An inspiring morning with Catherine Fox

Last week, a few of us from Pureprofile enjoyed a discussion with award-winning author and journalist Catherine Fox. The event, organised by the Sydney chapter of Women in Research, was an engaging conversation about women in the workplace and how women can leverage their networks to boost each other in their careers.

A year on from #MeToo bursting onto the global stage, women’s rights have never been more topical. Fox assured and inspired the audience with her commentary, informed by decades of research and her own experiences, that Australia (and the world) is making real progress. In this timely conversation, Fox challenged us all to take a different direction in addressing inequality by tackling biased rules and leveraging the power of women’s networking and support for each other.

A regular commentator on women and work, Fox has written five books, including
Stop Fixing Women, which won the 2017 Walkley Award for Women’s Leadership in Media. And her latest book Women Kind, published last month with Dr Kirstin Ferguson, examines the wave of female solidarity that is rebooting the women’s movement. We all purchased copies and can’t wait to share them around the office!

Pureprofile was proud to sponsor this event, which encouraged women (and a few men) in research to take a little time out of their busy schedules to come together, network, and celebrate the power of women supporting women.
