Pureprofile: Retail spending weakens post Christmas

Retail spending in Australia may not have been as robust as usual post Christmas and January.

Analysis by martech Pureprofile of the spending patterns of 400,000 Australians shows a fall in average spends in the retail category during the boxing day to back to school period (December 26 to January 31).

The books category was affected the most with an 8% fall compared to the previous year, followed by clothing, shoes & fashion (-4%).
