Global insights: How we will celebrate, spend and reflect this Christmas

Social restrictions and spells of lockdowns have undoubtedly impacted the festive spirit and shaped our seasonal plans in ways we couldn’t have foreseen. As our Christmas preparations unfold and we adapt to our changing environments, the way we approach gifting has become more purposeful and considered.
After another tumultuous year of the pandemic, we deliberate how and where we will shop, celebrate with family, and spread joy. And while we focus on the pressure of having a safe Christmas, what effect does this have on our emotional and mental wellbeing?

We asked 2,595 people from our global panel, taken from nationally representative samples in the United Kingdom, Australia and New Zealand, about their plans for the festive season and how they feel about a second Christmas during a global pandemic. This is what we discovered:
