Is a Christmas party the best way to reward staff this year?

Christmas parties have been a staple of the office for decades, but with the rise in the cost of living, employers and employees alike have been rethinking whether they are the best reward for the hard work that’s been put in over the year.

Last year, global workforce consultancy Resource Solutions produced the Workplace Christmas Benefits report, which found that just 10% of UK workers believed it was essential to arrange a Christmas party. 42% of those who weren’t interested in a Christmas party said they would prefer a bonus or gift. Is it time to change the status quo?

With 57% of Brits looking to spend less this Christmas, according to Pureprofile’s annual Christmas insights report, Tightening the tinsel: Unwrapping Christmas trends & spends in 2023, a financial incentive will likely be well-received.
