As Australians increasingly struggle to switch off in an always-on world, Amazon today announced its all-new Kindle Scribe lineup is coming to Australia next month, reimagined from the ground up to support deeper focus, clearer thinking and meaningful productivity. The lineup includes the next-generation Kindle Scribe, with and without a front light, and the first-ever colour Kindle Scribe — Kindle Scribe Colorsoft. All three devices are available for pre-order starting today and will begin shipping on 10 June 2026.
New research highlights growing focus fatigue among Australians, with 22% saying constant interruptions are impacting their ability to properly disconnect, while 17% struggle to stay focused on a single task. In response, many are seeking more intentional ways to reset, with one in three (33.4%) turning to focused activities like reading to properly switch off. Designed to minimise distractions and support uninterrupted thinking, the new Kindle Scribe lineup combines reading, writing and AI-powered organisation tools in one paper-like device.
About the research
The research was commissioned by Amazon and conducted by Pureprofile via an online survey of 1,012 Australians aged 18+ years, nationally representative of age, gender and location. This nationwide survey was conducted online amongst members of this consumer-based panel, between March 20th to 27th, 2026. Generations defined as: Gen Z defined as those aged 18-34 years (n=289), Gen Y as those aged 35-44 (n=179), Gen X as those aged 45-64 years (n=320) and Boomers/Pre-Boomers as aged 65+ years (n=224).
