Fujifilm Australia is bringing its Colour Hunt photography workshops to Sydney following company-commissioned research into the colours that appear most often in Australians’ camera rolls.
Forest Green, Cobalt Blue and Butter Yellow were the three most photographed shades among those surveyed. Forest Green was named by 49% of respondents and Cobalt Blue by 39%. Butter Yellow followed at 22%, ahead of Merlot Red and Mocha Brown on 19% each, and Fuchsia Pink on 16%.
The findings suggest a shared visual palette among the country’s casual photographers and content creators. Fujifilm says 59% of Australians, or about 12 million people, identify with those groups.
Colour trends
The survey was conducted by Pureprofile among 1,000 Australians aged 18 and over. Respondents could select up to three colours that had appeared most in their camera roll and social media feeds during the year.
While greens and blues led the rankings, the wider list points to a mix of natural and fashion-led tones in everyday photography. Forest Green’s lead may reflect the prominence of parks, gardens and outdoor scenes in Australian image sharing, though the research focused on what people reported seeing in their own images and feeds.
