Steggles has debuted a new initiative, ‘Charity Chook’, aimed at supporting Australian children’s charities by donating $0.30 from every Charity Chook sold during the month of July. The initiative is a response to recent research indicating that 35% of Australians do not feel financially comfortable enough to make regular charitable donations.
The research conducted by Pureprofile for Steggles surveyed over 1,000 Australians aged 18 and above who both donate to charity and purchase groceries. The survey revealed 95% of respondents consume chicken, with 76% identifying it as their preferred protein choice at supermarkets.
The Charity Chook will be available nationwide at Woolworths stores from 1 July 2025. The product features packaging designed by illustrator Daniel Gray-Barnett. The artwork is inspired by the stories of three families supported by Ronald McDonald House Charities (RMHC): Savi, Henry, and Haisley.
“Bringing joy through illustration has always been a passion of mine, so partnering with Steggles to create the Charity Chook packaging was truly special,” Gray-Barnett commented. “As a parent, I was deeply moved by the stories of Savi, Henry, and Haisley – each filled with resilience, love, and hope. It was an honour to help capture that warmth through my artwork. My hope is that every pack brings a smile to the dinner table, while also helping families dealing with hardship.”
