New research from AliExpress indicates that 59% of Australians plan to reduce spending on gifts for family and friends due to cost-of-living pressures.
This research is part of AliExpress’s ‘Unbox Summer, Watch Sydney Open Up’ campaign, which aims to showcase the platform’s range and value.
The campaign includes partnerships with Crunch Fitness and content creators to inspire Australians to enjoy summer without overspending. AliExpress is introducing a new loyalty program, the Elite Program, which offers members a 5% discount on millions of products. Elite Program members can stack their discounts with 11.11 sale prices during the Global Shopping Festival from November 1-18.
Research shows 87% of Australians want loyalty programs for added value, with free delivery, exclusive discounts, and redeemable points as the most desired benefits. Furthermore, 48% of Australians consider quality a key factor when trying new retailers or brands.
AliExpress’s Brand+ initiative connects shoppers with established brands and quality products both locally and internationally. The ‘Unbox Summer, Watch Sydney Open Up’ campaign will feature activations at Crunch Fitness’s nine Sydney clubs, including exclusive classes and a chance to win prizes.
Pureprofile conducted the research, surveying 1,000 Australians in October 2026.
